Bell Veterinary Hospital is a busy, single-doctor practice in Haleyville, AL.  As we have grown, we have a rare opening for a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician.  We foster a team atmosphere; everyone chips in and works towards a common goal - helping our patients.  We are a fun, collaborative team that values continual learning and development.  We strive to do our best for our clients and patients and take pride in our work.  We also like to have fun and think of our team as a family!  We are looking for someone who excels at customer service and can assist our veterinarian with medical tasks and patient care.

The successful candidate will:

• Have previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant or Veterinary Technician preferred but willing to train the right person
• Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Be able to multi-task, prioritize and take initiative
• Be curious and have the desire to learn and grow in this profession, be able to help others learn this profession
• Be extremely reliable and have a “team first” mentality
• Be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, kneel and repeatedly stand throughout the day

Duties may include:

• answering client questions, client education
• checking in and discharging patients
• animal restraint and handling
• laboratory procedures, including urinalysis, heartworm testing, fecal exams, and running our blood work machines
• assisting in surgery, setting up the surgical suite, recovering patients
• nail trim and anal gland expression
• ear cleaning/flushing
• dispensing medications, medication knowledge
• hospitalized patient treatment and discharge
